PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST
Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library (CRCPL) is seeking a Peer Support Specialist. This is a full-time grant-funded appointment. The Peer Support Specialist serves as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals within Ross County.
The successful candidate will assist peers in gaining independence within the community as they maintain or transition into a successful recovery process. The position will help library users build social skills that enhance job acquisition and will connect them to local resources that support their needs and goals.
Minimum qualifications: a high school diploma or GED required. Some college experience desirable. Successful completion of the Peer Recovery Support Training program. The ability to communicate effectively with peers and library staff while practicing empathic and kind customer service. The ability to pass a background check. The ability to work flexible hours and reliable transportation to travel throughout Ross County (mileage reimbursement is available).
Desired skills: Familiarity with MS Office products, keyboarding and Windows. Ability to operate a personal computer and other job-related equipment.
Salary and benefits: $16.00/hour (40 hour week); paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and personal leave; health, dental and vision insurances; participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
