Free Internet at Home!

Thanks to funding from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library has obtained 500 WiFi hotspots to support Ross County students and educators lacking adequate internet connectivity at home. Hotspots are available for students of any age (preschool through college) as well as educators with a Ross County address.

WiFi hotspots use cellular service to connect devices to the internet. You can use a hotspot to connect a computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone, video game player, and many other Internet-enabled devices. Since the Internet is delivered via cellular signal, service may not be available in all areas.

To qualify for this program:

  • A parent/guardian/adult must check out the WiFi hotspot.
  • Students/educators and parents/guardians must have a Ross County, Ohio, address.
  • The hotspot will be checked out on the parent/guardian/adult card for the entire school year.
  • One hotspot can hold up to 15 connections at a time, therefore hotspots are limited to one device per household.
  • There are no fees or penalties for this program. Call us at 740-702-4148 for technical assistance or to report a damaged, lost, or stolen hotspot.

To apply for a hotspot, fill out the form below, or download the application and return it to any library location. You may also call the library at 740-702-4148, or email hotspots@crcpl.org for more information.

By checking this box, I verify that I or my student lacks adequate internet connectivity at home (no internet or slow speed)

By checking this box, I authorize CRCPL to create a library account in my name if I do not already have one. The hotspot will be checked out onto my account and I am responsible for the device’s safekeeping and return at the end of the school year.

Please list the names and grades of all students living in your home. If this hotspot is for a college student or educator, just enter your own name in the student line and the university you attend or school where you are employed in the grade line.
