The Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library (CRCPL) is part of a consortium of nearly 100 library systems throughout Ohio, from Ashtabula to Brown County. If you don’t see that book, DVD, CD or magazine on our shelves, you can request it from another location. You can also suggest titles to be added to our local collection by filling out a form at the front desk or by going online to https://www.crcpl.org/help/purchase-suggestions/.
The library staff answers about 3,500 reference questions every month! We can help you find what you’re looking for, from library materials to a phone number or address, or even local events information. Ready for the next book in a series? Want to know the latest title by your favorite author? Call to schedule a meeting room for your event, or tech tutoring appointments: 740-702-4145.
CRCPL has an extensive Genealogy department, with obituaries on file from as far back as the early 1800s, and microfilm of the Scioto Gazette and Chillicothe Gazette back to July, 1800. Staff can help you with your search in person or over the phone. You can also email email@example.com and submit your request. (There is a small fee for mailing research results.)
The library strives to meet the needs of all its patrons, no matter your age or ability. The Outreach department assists homebound patrons with delivery and pickup of library materials, the Talking Books program, and literacy and learning skills through the Family and Friends Reading program. Call Outreach Manager Mike Jones at 740-702-4111 to find out if you or a loved one qualifies for any of these services.
The Information Technology department keeps the patron and staff computers updated and running smoothly. CRCPL has a dedicated tech tutor to help you with technology, apps, devices, and computer skills. Call to set up a one-on-one appointment, or schedule via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have questions about your specific device, you can bring your phone, laptop, e-Reader, etc. to the appointment.
The Youth Services and Adult Services departments plan and execute hundreds of fun and educational events every year. With nine library locations throughout Ross County, you can find an interesting program almost every day. From storytimes and crafts to teen cooking and book clubs and gardening for adults, there really is something for everyone, and it’s all FREE at your library. Check out the website at crcpl.org/events for a complete list and descriptions.
And how is all this information collected and disseminated? That’s my job. The Community Relations department works with all of the other departments and the graphic designer to make sure you always get timely and attractive fliers, calendars, bookmarks, and more to keep you abreast of library activities.
So call us. Check out our website. Or, better yet, stop by your local library and see for yourself what we have to offer. We are books and more!
