Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library (CRCPL) has a new branch! Well…ok, it’s technically not a “new” branch, but everything about the redesigned space at the Mount Logan Branch is new.
CRCPL has had a presence in the Mount Logan Resource Center since October, 2016. When we first began this adventure, we shared a very small corner in the school’s own library. Despite this, we were so excited to have a presence in the eastside community. Since then, we’ve seen this location morph several times. We’ve gone from our small corner, to now residing in the entirety (plus some) of the former elementary library.
One of the most notable features of the renovation is the brand new entrance on the Cutright Drive end of the building. Here, visitors will find comfortable seating that’s tucked away from the main room of the library. It’s a great space to read or study. Plus, any books needed for research are only a couple of steps away. There is also magazine shelving in this area.
School-aged children and teens may find that the new computer stations are their favorite spot here. The layout makes it a great place to gather for studying, homework, or just playing Roblox after a long day at school. Plus, we offer a plethora of amazing programs that are fun and educational. You can always check out our calendar at: www.crcpl.org/events to see what upcoming programs Mt. Logan Branch will be hosting. (I’ve heard chatter about an escape room program on Monday, September 16 at 4:00 pm that’s going to be a blast!)
The Mount Logan location also offers library time during the school day for students attending Chillicothe City Schools preschool and Pioneer Center preschool. We are constantly evolving our collection of materials at this location to meet the needs of this very important age group. We love teaching preschoolers all about the library, how to find books, and how to handle a book gently. Our absolute favorite, though, is story time. We have a colorful designated area in the library just for these special times.
As with our other eight locations, Mount Logan is a fully-functioning public library. You can get a card, check out and return books, movies, music, magazines, etc., place holds, pick up materials, use a computer, get technology help, or just hang out. Whatever your library needs are, the extraordinary staff at Mt. Logan are ready to help.
We are so excited about the changes here that we want you to experience them for yourself. We’re located inside the Mount Logan Resource Center at 841 E. Main Street. Public open hours are Mondays from 3 pm to 8 pm and Tuesdays through Thursday from 3 pm to 6 pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
