Beyond Books

Around the County and in Your Neighborhood

You probably know that the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library has two locations in the city of Chillicothe: the Main Library on Paint Street, and the Northside Branch on Buckeye. You may not have heard that we also have four county branch locations and three school locations. With nine locations in total, accessing the library and all that it offers is easier and closer than ever.

A sneak peak at the new Mt. Logan floor plan.

Coming this new school year is a complete remodel of the Mt. Logan Learning Center location (formerly Mt. Logan Elementary). The redesigned space will feature new comfortable furniture and desks that are perfect for studying, working, or just kicking back with a good book. This remodel will also include more computers with internet access, and a laptop bar for those who bring a laptop or tablet with them. Throw in a fresh paint job, new shelving, and an updated collection, and you’ve got at least four amazing reasons to check this location out when it reopens in mid-August.

Until then, you can visit us in Frankfort, Kingston, Bainbridge and Richmond Dale, Huntington High School in Huntington Township, and Buckskin Elementary School in South Salem. All of our county and school branch locations offer the same excellent services that the city locations do. You can check out books, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and CDs. If a branch doesn’t have the exact item you’re looking for, your friendly local library clerk can search our extensive database of nearly 100 libraries across Ohio to find it. Best of all, it can be delivered right to the branch nearest to you for pickup.

Our branches also have programming tailored to the community they’re located in. For example, our Paxton Branch in Bainbridge offers a weekly Beginners Quilting program. Our Huntington High School location features a monthly Card Club, and several locations feature their own monthly book club. Each location also offers a storytime for kids.

As for more routine library services, you can sign up for and use your library card at any location. Returns can be made at any branch and you don’t have to return items to the same location you checked them out from. Most locations also offer after-hours book drops for your convenience. Branches also fall under the library system’s fine free policy.

All of our locations also feature free Wi-Fi, computers, laptops, and technology help. Ask about our Tech Tutoring program, which schedules a convenient time for you to sit down with our Tech Tutoring expert and get assistance. Whether you’re a tech pro or a tech newbie, you’ll definitely want to check out the Ohio Digital Library, Hoopla Digital, Acorn TV, Gale Courses, and Creativebug. These are just a few of the free online services that we offer.

With all of these wonderful services, and locations in your community, there’s never been a better time to visit your local library branch. Sign up for a new library card or if you’re a former library user, we’d love to see you back and show you all the library has to offer.
